Rikke Emilie Kristiansen

Founder & Lead Instructor

Rikke founded Pilara to bring clinical understanding into a studio environment people genuinely enjoy spending time in.

She is a UK-practising chiropractor and STOTT®-trained reformer Pilates instructor. In clinic she saw the same pattern repeatedly: treatment helped, but lasting change depended on what people did afterwards.

Alongside practice, movement has always been part of her work and daily life: from dance and strength training to running, and teaching both fitness and dance classes. Across all settings the pattern was the same — when people understand movement, the body adapts and recovers better.

Pilates stood out because it builds awareness and control, not just effort. Pilara was created as a place where that approach could exist outside a clinical setting: structured and well taught, but calm and welcoming at the same time.

The aim is simple — guidance you can trust, in a space you feel comfortable returning to week after week.

About the studio

Pilara Studio

Weston-super-Mare

Pilara is built around a clear standard: quality in teaching, programming and environment.

Classes are taught in small groups so guidance stays individual rather than general. Exercises are explained, options are always available, and progression is intentional rather than rushed.

Quality runs through everything — instruction, equipment and the space itself.

Whether you’re completely new, rebuilding after injury, or looking to progress your training, you should feel supported and understand what you’re working towards.

The goal is understanding, control and long-term strength.

What is reformer pilates?

Our method

What is reformer pilates?

Reformer Pilates is a full-body training method performed on a spring-based machine — the Reformer.

The moving carriage and adjustable resistance support you where needed and challenge you where useful. This makes the exercises feel controlled, precise and effective without high impact.

Rather than chasing exhaustion, the focus is on alignment, coordination and gradual strength. Over time this often leads to better posture, improved stability and a clearer sense of how your body moves in everyday life.

You don’t need flexibility or previous experience to begin — just consistency.
